Our Policy and Guidelines

The following guidelines help us respond to your requests efficiently and effectively. If you have additional questions, email us at info@storytype.com for more information.

Recordings:

Source tapes and sound files will be recorded professionally with every effort made to provide the clearest possible recording. Recordings will not contain individuals with unintelligible foreign accents, or rare and unidentifiable slang. All transcription of recordings will be minimally edited - that is, Story Type will not transcribe "uh, er, um, ah," and so on, unless a true verbatim transcript is specifically requested.

Handwritten documents:

Handwriting will be legible. If revisions are made to hard copy, insertions and deletions will be clearly identified. Surcharges will apply for illegible handwriting or unclear instructions.

Instructions:

Send an email requesting a quote for your project. Please include a basic description of what you wish transcribed - an interview, broadcast recording, etc. - number of people on the tape and any special needs.

Surcharges:

Surcharges will apply to: Unintelligible and or inaudible audio quality; Multiple concurrent speakers; Heavy accents; Poorly mic'd interviews; and in the event that Story Type needs to scan a tape because portions of tape are blank, or if portions of the tape contain content that is not obviously part of the material to be transcribed.
**No surcharge will be applied without first speaking with you.

Accuracy:

Story Type is proud of its high transcription accuracy. However, at times errors do occur. If you find that we produced a transcript that does not meet our high standards, notify us within 72 hours of your receipt of the transcript and we will redo the job at no cost to you. We do not offer refunds or reduction in rates.
